MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti)
A referee has been punished for allowing an illegal goal that gave CSKA Moscow a win against Slovan Bratislava, the league said Friday.
This is the third time in 10 days in which KHL officials have been punished for allowing goals that broke the rules.
CSKA completed a 3-2 victory in Tuesday's match, scoring the winning goal on 29 minutes when Yakov Rylov hit the net with a blue-line shot.
However, the goal should have been disallowed because CSKA's Igor Grigorenko was inside the crease and obstructing Slovan’s goaltender Jaroslav Janus, the KHL said.
“After a comprehensive study, the KHL refereeing department has decided that the goaltender was obstructed during the goal and it should have been disallowed,” the KHL said in a website statement.
“Disciplinary measures have been taken against the referee who made the mistake.”
The league did not specify which of the two main referees, Alexander Sergeev or Roman Shchenev, was punished.
On Wednesday, a video goal judge was suspended for the season for allowing a goal in Amur Khabarovsk’s 5-2 win against Salavat Yulaev when the puck only partly crossed the line.
Last week, two referees were suspended and two dropped from the league for upholding Lokomotiv Yaroslavl’s goal in their 3-2 road victory over Traktor Chelyabinsk even though Lokomotiv had an extra player on the ice.
