Lev Prague coach Jose Jandac was sacked Sunday after six months in charge, becoming the third KHL coaching casualty in a month.

Lev started its second season brightly but a seven-game losing streak has seen the KHL’s only Czech team plunge out of the playoff places to 11th in the Western Conference.

“Unfortunately, our recent results have not been satisfactory and in response we have decided to remove the head coach,” Lev general manager Normund Sejejs said in a website statement.

The team will be coached jointly by Jandac’s former assistants Jiri Kalous and Vitaly Karamnov until a replacement coach is chosen, Sejejs said.

Jandac was appointed in April after Lev’s first season in the KHL saw the team, then based in Slovakia, finish 10th in the Western Conference under Radim Rulik.

This season, Lev has signed NHL defenseman Zdeno Chara and wing Jakub Voracek during the lockout, and had Calgary Flames wing Jiri Hudler on the roster, but released him because of injury.

Earlier this month, Dynamo Minsk coach Kari Heikkila became the first coach to be fired this season, and he was joined Sunday by Atlant's Janne Karlsson.
