ST. PETERSBURG, November 14 (R-Sport, Ivan Tugarin) - Russian mixed martial arts star Fedor Emelianenko says his brother Alexander can cope just fine without his advice ahead of Thursday's showdown with Jeff Monson.
One of Fedor Emeliananko's last fights before retirement was a points win over the American a year ago.
Now it's his little brother's turn to face the "Snowman" at the M1 Challenge 35 tournament in St. Petersburg.
"I don't think Alexander needs any advice before the fight, he's already done everything he could do," said Emelianenko, now the president of the Russian MMA Union.
Alexander Emelianenko has an MMA record of 21 wins and five defeats. He is unbeaten since November 2011, when he lost by technical knockout to Magomed Malikov during the M1 Challenge 28 tournament.
Fedor Emelianenko, 35, is a multiple world heavyweight champion and went undefeated for almost a decade until losing to Werdum in June 2010, earning the nickname "The Last Emperor" for this record.
He shared his plans on popularizing MMA, which was given national sport status in September, when he became president.
"We're planning to make MMA ... more popular. Maybe we will make a video on fighting techniques and hold master classes for young guys all over the country."
The M1 Challenge 35 celebrates 15 years of MMA in Russia. Aside from the main event, the fight card also features three title fights and two M1 Selection fights.

News that Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin would resign in order to run for the mayoral election in September came as quite a shock. Sobyanin’s political potential is fairly dubious, not to mention his approval ratings. He has not finished many of the projects he initiated and the electoral effect from these projects is expected to come a bit later than September 2013. Sobyanin’s opponents were not entirely unprepared for this blitzkrieg.
