CHELYABINSK, Russia, January (R-Sport) - Team East won the fifth KHL All-Star Game on Sunday by a score of 18-11 against the Western Conference select.
New Jersey Devils wing Ilya Kovalchuk and Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk were the only NHL lockout players to take part after most of the league's 40-plus stars returned for the start of the North American season.
Kovalchuk scored three goals for the losing Team West.
Washington Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov was the star with four goals, while his Eastern teammate Finnish center Jori Lehtera scored one goal and five assists.
With only nine games remaining of the regular season, many players' focus seemed to be elsewhere, and the pace of the game.
