Ukraine runoff turns odd: topless girls, disappearing ink pens, ballot eaten
20:59 07/02/2010

A number of odd events happened throughout Ukraine as the country was voting in a presidential election runoff on Sunday. These included topless girls protesting and a voter eating his ballot paper.

* Five topless young women protested at a Kiev polling station. Their mottos included "Politicians must not rape the country" and "Don't sell your votes"

* Several disappearing ink pens were discovered at polling station in the city of Simferopol and the town of Shchelkino in the Crimea, as well as in the Odessa Region. It was not clear whether the pens were used to fill in ballot papers

* A voter in the Lugansk Region snatched ten ballot papers and threw them into the ballot box without filling them in

* A drunk voter ate his ballot paper in the Poltava Region

* A voter in the city of Dzerzhinsk in the Donetsk Region, who was discontent that glasses of vodka and sandwiches were distributed to the voters free of charge, wrote a complaint, but the complaint was torn to pieces and the voter was put out of doors
