A hurricane caused death of two women in separate incidents in the city of Novorossiysk in southern Russia on Friday.
One victim was blown to the driveway, where she was hit by a passing car and died on the spot, a City Hall spokesman said.
The other was rammed into a parked car by a gust of wind and died of injuries, the spokesman said. He did not name the victims.
Local traffic police confirmed the first incident. A representative of the Krasnodar region’s branch of the Investigative Committee said the agency was looking into the other death, but could not immediately confirm the woman really died because she hit a parked car.
Krasnodar Governor Alexander Tkachyov said on his Twitter one of the victims was male, but did not elaborate.
The wind, which had a speed of 38 m/s, also damaged power lines in the area, temporarily leaving about 250,000 locals without electricity. Repair works were ongoing as of Friday afternoon.
