Earthquake hits Lake Baikal

A powerful earthquake struck Russia’s Siberian region, with a magnitude of 9 reported at the epicenter in the southern part of Lake Baikal. Strong shocks occurred in Irkutsk. No casualties or serious destruction are reported, the preliminary reports said.
