UN Security Council discusses Russia’s recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia’s independence

At the first session after Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the sides engaged in heated debates during which they openly criticized each other. They failed to come to terms, and did not adopt any resolutions.
