Cans and Kolchak gold - Mir mini-subs carry out Lake Baikal research
The submersibles successfully completed the first day of research during the second stage of an international expedition to Lake Baikal. Researchers plan to study the lake’s flora and fauna, explore underwater gas hydrates and mud volcanoes and obtain exact data about tectonic processes on the bottom of the lake.
