China continued to celebrate 60 years of communist rule with a gala and fireworks display in Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Thursday night.
In scenes reminiscent of last year's opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics, thousands took part in the colourful spectacular which featured dancers, drummers and singers.
