1,100 dead in Indonesian quake

As the death toll from a powerful earthquake which rocked western Indonesia rose to 1,100 by one UN estimate on Thursday, others searched for the thousands of people still missing and feared trapped in the wreckage of shattered buildings. The earthquake rocked western Indonesia on Wednesday, trapping thousands under collapsed buildings - including two hospitals - and triggering landslides.
