8 dead and 54 injured in Thai derailment

A train derailed during heavy rains early on Monday near a popular seaside resort in central Thailand, killing at least eight people and injuring 54 others, officials said. The train jumped the tracks before dawn near Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand, during a journey from the southern city of Trang to the capital, Bangkok, said the director of the Emergency Medical Institute of Thailand.
