Michael Jackson fans attempted to break the world record for having the most people simultaneously dance to "Thriller" -- and to land in the Guinness World Records.
The so-called "Thrill the World" dance-a-thon was organised by various Jackson fan clubs.
In Los Angeles, some 6,000 fans participated, while similar parties took place Saturday (24OCT09) night in New York, Washington, D.C. and other spots in the United States and in 36 other countries.
The current record was set by 13,597 people just a few months ago in Mexico City, on what would have been Jackson's 51st birthday. Yet here was still no word whether Saturday's event beat that tally.
