A severe thunderstorm flooded streets and snarled traffic across northern PuertoRico on Sunday.
The National Weather Service on Sunday issued a flash flood warning for the U.S. island's capital of San Juan and the suburb of Guaynabo as low-lying streets turned into rivers.
Emergency officials kept close watch on the Rio Piedras River south of San Juan, which rose rapidly.
A Weather Service meteorologist said the storm formed due to a cold front passing northwest of the island.
Emergency workers rescued stranded motorists.
There have been no immediate reports of any injuries.
