Cannibal tuna, to meet demand

As wild stocks of bluefin tuna diminish and fishing quotas shrink, aquaculture has become an established method of meeting increasing demand. With an annual revenue of around 7 Billion US$, Maruha Nichiro is one of the giants of the global fishing industry. Among many other operations, the company is currently farming Pacific bluefin tuna at eight locations around Japan.
