Sword-swallowing world record set

An Australian street performer set a new world record for sword-swallowing on Monday, by swallowing 18 blades simultaneously, an Australian broadcaster reported.
Chayne Hultgren, who calls himself 'The Space Cowboy', was filmed by Australian broadcaster AuBC performing the act on the streets of Sydney.
Swallowing that number of swords - each of which was 72 centimetres long - gives Hultgren the new Guinness World Record.
After successfully extracting the swords from his gullet, 31-year old Hultgren punched the air and said "it feels good".
Hultgren set the previous record of 17 swords - also a Guinness World Record - in 2008, AuBC reported.
Hultgren began practising the art of sword swallowing at the age of 16 when he taught himself to swallow a hose, local news agencies reported.
A few years later he upped the ante and began using stainless steel blades.
He insists the act is not dangerous, but admits that plenty of practice is needed.
