Employees from the Vadim Zadorozhny Technical Museum and activists from the Motherland’s History Milestones organization have reenacted February 23, 1942 in Krasnogorsk, the Moscow Region.
“In late February 1942 the Soviet army pushed the enemy back 250 kilometers from Moscow and advanced even further. That is what we are trying to recreate – Soviet soldiers were defeating the enemy,” deputy head of the Technical Museum, Viktor Bashurov told RIA Novosti. To make the reenactment more realistic they used actual weapons and vehicles from the Great Patriotic War that are kept at the museum. The spectators saw a fully restored T-60 light tank and a BA-64 armored vehicle. The ”actors” used real weapons loaded with blanks – the Mosin-Nagant rifles, the PPSh guns, the Degtyaryov machine guns and the German Schmeisser submachine guns. A total of 22 people participated in the historical reenactment, with 10 playing the Wehrmacht soldiers and 12 performing the roles of Red Army soldiers. The museum’s employees plan to perform the reenactments every week. Vadim Zadorozhny said they were preparing a separate celebratory program for the 65th anniversary of the Victory.
