Viktor Yanukovych has taken his oath to the Ukrainian people, becoming Ukraine’s fourth president. He was sworn in by the chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
Yanukovych recited the presidential oath with his right hand on the Ukrainian constitution and the Gospel. He then signed the oath, and the head of the Constitutional Court, Andrei Strizhak, handed him a certificate of his assumption of presidential office. He also handed Yanukovych the symbols of presidential authority: the seal and mace of the president of Ukraine.
