Thai opposition protestors paint Bangkok streets with blood

Topic:Thai political crisis

Thai opposition protestors painted the streets in front of the gates of the Thai prime minister's office with their blood on March16.
The protestors used three million cubic centimeters of blood taken voluntarily from 100,000 protestors.
The bizarre protest, organized by the supporters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), the so-called Red Shirts, was intended as "a sacrificial offering for Thai democracy" after the premier rejected demands for his resignation and fresh elections.
The rally went off peacefully after city police entered into negotiations with protestors and allowed 100 people to come up close to the gates to pour out the blood.
