At least six people have been killed and some 100 injured in riots in the capital of the ex-Soviet Central Asian state of Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday.
Kyrgyz authorities have imposed a state of emergency in Bishkek and Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has signed a decree imposing a curfew as clashes continue between rioters and police in the country's capital of Bishkek.Police estimate there are several thousand protesters in the streets. They attempted to ram the fence surrounding the government building in central Bishkek using riot police vehicles.
