The eldest son of Vicky Pelaez and Juan Lazaro, a married couple recently arrested by the FBI on charges of spying for Russia, has told reporters that his parents are regular people.
He said he learned of his parents’ arrest this past Sunday, when he returned home from a party to find FBI agents searching the house. Pelaez and Lazaro lived in a quiet, upscale neighborhood of Yonkers outside of New York City. The FBI alleges that the couple met with Russian agents in their home to pass on information. 
If convicted, Pelaez and Lazaro face up to 25 years in prison. They are suspected of involvement in two espionage operations for Russia carried out in the United States.
