“Georgia and South Ossetia should sort out their relations themselves, not seek solutions from third-party countries, such as the United States,” said Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, commenting on the statements that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made during her July 5 visit to Tbilisi. Secretary Clinton had called for Russia to end the occupation, stressing that “the United States is steadfast in its commitment to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
