The family of Anna Chapman, the Russian businesswoman arrested in the United States on suspicions of spying for Russia, has agreed to give its first public interview and tell the media what they think about the infamous spy scandal.
Irina Kushchenko, the mother of Anna Chapman, said the news about her daughter’s arrest came as a complete shock. Initially, Chapman’s family thought the news was as a publicity stunt to draw attention to her business.
Chapman, 28, owns a real estate website, which she launched in the U.S. after testing the business model in Russia. Her younger sister, Yekaterina, helped develop an advertising strategy for the website.
Chapman’s mother is outraged by the media scrutiny of her daughter. The media continue to publish the details of the alleged Russian spy’s private life. Personal photos and intimate details of her life have been leaked to the media.
Kushchenko says she’s going to file a suit against Western media outlets that have published her daughter’s photos. She is confident that all the charges against her daughter will soon be dropped.
