GEORGIA EXAMINES RUSSIA'S RECENT PROPOSALS ON WITHDRAWAL OF MILITARY BASES
A document with new proposals was delivered to the Georgian embassy in Moscow this Friday and immediately furthered to the Georgian foreign ministry. At the request of the Russian side, the details of this document should not be made public for the time being.
Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Okruashvili told journalists this Friday that tough measures provided for by the Georgian parliament's resolution of March 10 would not be applied against the Russian military bases.
"The parliament decision (on sanctions to be used against the Russian bases from May 16) is a staple document for the executive power but we want to leave a chance until the end of the ongoing talks," Okruashvili told journalists.
"If the talks are no success, we shall not sit idle-nor will Russia," said the minister.
