CONVICTS FOUND AMONG REFUGEES SEEKING ENTRY IN KYRGYZSTAN FROM UZBEKISTAN
According to preliminary estimates, there 12 ex-convicts number twelve, the border service of Kyrgyzstan told RIA Novosti.
Thirteen refugees have bullet wounds, the interviewee said.
On Saturday, after the Uzbek authorities dispersed a demonstration in Uzbekistan, over 500 Uzbek nationals broke the Uzbek border-guard cordon and attempted to penetrate into the Bazarkorgon district of Kyrgyzstan.
Border guards stopped and surrounded them, blocking the path of border violators.
All the security forces of the republic's southern regions have been put on alert. Additional forces are being drawn to sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border because refugees continue to arrive from Uzbekistan.
The situation on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border section is under control, the border service of Kyrgyzstan said.
