The minister said discussions with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov would focus on Russian aid, fighting terrorism and bilateral relations.
The minister said the visit would continue the dialogue set up by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent visit to the Middle East.
Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and of the "Middle East Quartet," or four international intermediaries (Russia, United States, the EU and the UN), which means Russia plays an important role in the peace process, al-Kidwa said.
The two ministers also intend to discuss the situation in the Middle East after Israel's withdrawal of its settlements from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and issues that will be discussed at a Quartet meeting in New York September 20, al-Kidwa said.
