Russian OSCE observers dispute criticism of Azerbaijani elections
BAKU, November 8 (RIA Novosti) - The coordinator of the Russian section of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's monitoring group in Azerbaijan said Tuesday that the report by the OSCE, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament criticizing Sunday's parliamentary elections in the country was one-sided.
Head of the OSCE monitoring group Alcee Hastings said Monday that the elections had failed to meet international norms and democratic standards, a statement affirmed by PACE and the U.S. State Department.
Russian OSCE observer Igor Borisov called the monitoring group's work at the Azerbaijani elections a "witch hunt".
"There were no particular violations in the voting process during [Sunday's] elections in Azerbaijan," he said.
