Gazprom's gas price unacceptable - Ukrainian PM
KIEV, December 28 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov called Russian energy giant Gazprom's price of $230 per 1,000 cu m of gas unacceptable Wednesday.
"Ukraine qualifies the price as unacceptable," Ukrainian media quoted Yekhanurov as saying. Kiev sees the proposals as "direct economic pressure on the country", the minister said.
"If Russia refuses [to agree to Ukrainian proposals], we will have every reason to appeal to the Stockholm court," Yenukharov said.
Meanwhile, Kiev said Wednesday that Moscow had not confirmed that the gas talks planned for December 28 with Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Ivan Plachkov would take place.
"Russia has not yet confirmed the talks, but we expect a confirmation to follow," Prime Minister Yuriy Ekhanurov told a meeting on energy supplies Wednesday.
The Ukrainian president's press office said Tuesday Plachkov would arrive in Moscow for gas talks December 28.
