E.ON Ruhrgas guarantees gas supplies to consumers
"We are well equipped. Even if the situation aggravates further [between Gazprom and Ukraine], there will be no restrictions in supplying the population and small industrial consumers with natural gas," Bergman was quoted as saying.
However, he did not rule out certain restrictions "in the future if the crisis persists and the winter is too cold."
E.ON Ruhrgas said that when Gazprom cut off natural gas for Ukraine, West European countries were endangered as 80% of Russian gas deliveries were made via Ukraine.
Ukraine taps part of Europe-bound gas, therefore Western Europe does not receive the full amount of natural gas it is entitled to, the company said. However, Bergman added, Ruhrgas would be able to receive natural gas from Norway, the Netherlands, and Germany if the gas dispute was protracted.
