Moscow calls for national accord in Iraq - Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW, January 5 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow is appealing to all political and religious forces in Iraq to reach national accord, Russia's Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
"We urge all political and religious forces in Iraq to reach national accord in order to improve the situation in Iraq for the sake of its future," the ministry said in a statement posted on its official site.
Dozens of people have fallen victims of terrorist acts in the country in the past two days and the situation in the country remains volatile, the statement said.
"The security situation in this country...unfortunately has not improved," the ministry said. "Innocent people continue to die. The latest tragic examples are terrorist acts committed in Karbala and Ramadi that claimed lives of dozens of Iraqi citizens."
