Gazprom says contesting gas agreements unlikely
21:42 16/01/2006
MOSCOW, January 16 (RIA Novosti) - Russian energy giant Gazprom does not fear possible attempts to contest the contract on the transit and supplies of Russian natural gas signed by Gazprom and Ukrainian national natural gas company Naftogaz, a deputy board chairman for the Russian holding said Monday.
"Governments come and go, but gas workers stay. The contract was signed by two corporations' authorized representatives and I do not see any serious danger of attempts to contest the agreements, the more so as President [Viktor] Yushchenko in his latest statements unambiguously supported and clarified them," Alexander Medvedev said.
Medvedev said Ukraine did not have to worry about deliveries, as the country's due amount of gas would be ensured in full.
