Chicken suspected to have died of bird flu in Georgia
19:03 25/01/2006
TBILISI, January 25 (RIA Novosti) - A chicken recently found dead in a private farm in Georgia may have been infected with the avian flu virus, the Georgian Agriculture Ministry said Wednesday.
Samples of the chicken's blood have been sent to a laboratory in Tblisi, Georgia's capital, and the test results are expected on Thursday, ministry officials said.
However, the ministry said there are as yet no grounds for panic, as many other viruses have similar symptoms to bird flu.
