Ukraine poorly informed on Transdnestr border issue - official
TIRASPOL, March 7 (RIA Novosti) - The leader of the self-proclaimed republic of Transdnestr in Moldova said Tuesday that the Ukrainian president was poorly informed about the new customs regulations between Transdnestr and Ukraine.
"I understood from a [telephone] conversation with Ukrainian President [Viktor] Yushchenko that his subordinates were not keeping him sufficiently informed about what was really going on," Igor Smirnov said.
The new customs regulations, requiring all Transdnestr goods bound for Ukraine to bear an official Moldovan stamp, caused protests from Tiraspol and Moscow, which both regard the measure as an attempt to impose an economic blockade on the ex-Soviet state's separatist region.
