A source in Russia's security agencies did not rule out that America's accusations were "a form of revenge on the part of the U.S. for Russia's firm position in regard to hostilities on Iraq's territory." Russia was consistently against military operation against Iraq prior to the start of the 2003 U.S.-led operation, a move which President Vladimir Putin labeled a "big mistake" at the time. 
Belarusian police surrounded an unsanctioned political opposition rally in central Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and divided protesters into two groups Saturday.
"I am positive that friendly relations and mutual cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus will keep strengthening and developing," President Ilkham Aliyev said.
Ukraine imposed stricter regulations on the Russian convoy Thursday, insisting that its route be changed, that Russian symbols be removed, and that it travel only at night.
