KIEV, April 27 (RIA Novosti) - Capital flight from Ukraine has jumped 243% year-on-year to $2 billion in the first two months of 2006, the economics minister said Thursday.
"In the first two months alone, capital flight reached $2 billion against $822 million last year," Arseniy Yatsenyuk told a government session.
He said the figure had hit $3 billion in the first quarter of 2006.
The minister said the trend was caused by underestimated imports.
"These are special schemes for transferring capital (abroad) through banks," Yatsenyuk said.
