KIEV, May 25 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine is planning to strengthen military and technical ties with Belarus, the country's defense minister said Thursday.
Anatoliy Hrytsenko said Ukraine would bid in tenders to supply weapons to the Belarusian Armed Forces, including procurement of combat aircraft.
"We have great potential for repairs of military hardware and the development of automated command-and-control systems," Hrytsenko said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart, Leonid Maltsev, in the western Belarusian city of Brest.
Ukraine currently supplies Belarusian Air Force with Czech-designed L-39 Albatros fighter-trainers left over following the break-up of the Soviet Union. The aircraft are surplus to requirements for the future of Ukraine's Air Force.
