Russia could make an important contribution to resolving Georgia's problems, the president of the South Caucasus country said Monday.

TBILISI, June 5 (RIA Novosti) - Russia could make an important contribution to resolving Georgia's problems, the president of the South Caucasus country said Monday.

"I plan to meet with President [Vladimir] Putin to discuss relations between our countries, and key problems," Mikheil Saakashvili said at the Black Sea Forum for Dialogue and Partnership in Bucharest.

Saakashvili and Putin agreed Saturday to meet in St. Petersburg on June 13, and to discuss the resolution of Georgia's conflicts with the breakaway provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

"Our position has always been concrete," Saakashvili said Saturday. "We are ready for close and constructive relations with Russia based on the principle of absolute inviolability of Georgia's territorial integrity, peaceful conflict resolution, removal of all artificial barriers, and flexibility."

Georgian and Russian parliamentarians agreed Monday to set up a working group to resolve bilateral issues.

A delegation of the Russian State Duma, parliament's lower chamber, is currently visiting Georgia.
