AMSTERDAM, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) could play a role as an energy foundation for European and world development, the Russian energy giant's CEO said Tuesday.
Alexei Miller said at the 23rd World Gas Conference that Gazprom could fully meet its obligations in Europe, remaining the continent's largest single natural gas supplier, while developing cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries.
Miller said Gazprom intended "to use its resources to resolve international energy problems."
He also said Gazprom's structure and potential meant it was able to operate in unfavorable economic and political conditions.
"Gazprom is ready for positive discussion of any issues linked with Russian gas supplies," Miller said. "And we intend to use our great potential in the interests of our partners and stockholders, mainly the Russian state."
