IRKUTSK, June 7 (RIA Novosti) - Rescuers have discovered the body of a French tourist missing since a March 8 avalanche in Siberia, the head of a local rescue service said Wednesday.

A group of 19 people from France, Switzerland and Germany were snowboarding in mountains near Lake Baikal in the Republic of Buryatia when the avalanche struck, trapping six. The body of a Swiss tourist was discovered immediately after the tragedy, but the body of the second was found only on the fifth attempt.

"His body was found with using a special device under the snow at a depth of three meters," Viktor Gulevich said.

He said two French experts who conducted the recovery operation with six local rescuers had used the device to locate special fixings in the tourist's clothes.
