"Iran does not intend to discuss its inalienable rights in the nuclear sphere," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said during a trip to the Iranian province of Qazvin some 60 miles northwest of Tehran.

TEHRAN, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - Iran will not discuss its right to develop civilian nuclear energy, the country's president said Thursday.

"Iran does not intend to discuss its inalienable rights in the nuclear sphere," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said during a trip to the Iranian province of Qazvin some 60 miles northwest of Tehran.

The president said Iran was ready to hold talks with the international community to resolve misunderstandings regarding the nuclear problem.

"But we will never discuss our right to civilian nuclear technology, which we intend to use," Ahmadinejad said on Iranian television.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday that a package of incentives put forward by the six nations leading efforts to resolve the Iranian problem included serious interaction to develop Iran's civilian nuclear energy and non-nuclear technologies. It also sought to involve Iran in the dialogue to resolve regional security problems if there were no suspicions about the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.

Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's National Security Council, said Tuesday that "the proposals contain a number of positive aspects, but some issues need clarification," and that Tehran would resume talks with the West after examining the package.
