VIENNA, June 12 (RIA Novosti) - Head of the UN nuclear watchdog Monday expressed hope that the Iran's nuclear issue could be resolved through a dialogue.

"I remain certain that the path to progress (in the resolution of the Iranian nuclear crisis) lies through a dialogue and compromise," Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed El-Baradei said at the opening of a scheduled meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.

He also praised the efforts of Iran Six - the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany - to resolve the crisis around Iran's controversial nuclear program.

The United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China have agreed a package of incentives for Iran in return for its consent to stop its nuclear enrichment program. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana presented the offer to Tehran during his visit to Iran on June 6.

Hamid Reza Asefi, a spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry, said on June 11 that some nuclear proposals from six world powers are unacceptable.

"We should study the package offered," he said. "We believe there are points which are acceptable, but at the same time there are points which are ambiguous and points that we think should not have been included at all."

"We should soon give our response to these proposals and we will offer our own proposals," Asefi said.

The IAEA Board meeting will continue until June 14. The agenda comprises the review of an annual report for 2005, joint efforts in nuclear energy sphere and issues of technical cooperation, including construction of an international experimental thermonuclear reactor (ITER).
