KIEV, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's Education Ministry is planning to revoke the licenses of up to 22 private universities over the poor quality of education they offer, the education minister said Thursday.
"If a university occupies one room and teaches 3,000 students it will not work. People who pay money should not be deceived," Stanislav Nikolayenko said.
He said the ministry had recently withdrawn the license of a university that had only one professional lawyer in its law department.
"After the university was closed, teachers organized rallies and complained to the UN, but we believe such things should not happen in this country," Nikolayenko said, adding that more than 100 private universities had their licenses withdrawn in the recent years.
Ukraine currently has 233 state and 114 private universities.
