KIEV, 21 June (RIA Novosti) - Pro-presidential bloc Our Ukraine said Wednesday it will put forward a candidate for the post of parliamentary speaker.
A source in the block said that Our Ukraine would consider three candidates - acting Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov, the head of its political committee, Roman Bezsmertny, and tycoon and former national security council secretary Petro Poroshenko - at a session due 5.00 p.m. Moscow time (1.00 p.m. GMT).
Our Ukraine is one of three movements - the others being the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the Socialist Party - that came up with an initiative to form a parliamentary coalition after a March 26 election failed to produce a clear winner, but disagreements over distribution of posts kept them from reaching an agreement.
