KIEV, June 26 (RIA Novosti) - The new coalition majority in Ukraine's parliament, the Supreme Rada, has yet to decide on a candidate for the post of speaker, a lawmaker said Monday.

Mykola Katerinchuk said the People's Union Our Ukraine party had nominated Petro Poroshenko, a businessman and former secretary of Ukraine's Security Council, for the post at a party meeting.

The party dominates the pro-presidential bloc Our Ukraine, which along with the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the Socialist Party agreed to form a coalition majority in the Rada June 22, after months of political wrangling following elections in March.

The Our Ukraine bloc, which includes five other parties, will also consider the candidacies of former secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Anatoly Kinakh, and of Vladimir Stretovich, former head of the parliamentary committee on corruption, Katerinchuk said.

He said that a plenary session in parliament on June 27 would not elect parliamentary committees, but "will consider a bill on a list of committees in the Rada, and their number."

The new coalition is entitled to appoint the prime minister and most Cabinet members, who must be approved by the president.
