KIEV, August 16 (RIA Novosti) - One Ukrainian national was killed and another injured by an avalanche in southeast Siberia, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
"On August 14, in the Kosh-Agach district [in the southeast] of the Republic of Altai, a group of 12 Ukrainian tourists was hit by an avalanche near the Levy Maashei glacier, below the Nadezhda mountain pass, killing one Ukrainian and injuring another," the ministry said in a news release.
It said a Russian Emergencies Ministry helicopter would be sent to the area to evacuate eight Ukrainian citizens still on the mountain pass.
