TOKYO, August 17 (RIA Novosti) - A 22-year-old Russian woman has been stabbed to death in a nightclub horrific attack in Japan, police said Thursday.
A representative of the police on the island of Honshu said a 47-year-old visitor to the club in the port of Kobe stabbed the Russian dancer in the neck and breast several times and then plunged the knife into his own stomach in an apparent suicide bid.
The police said the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. local time (6 p.m. Moscow time, 2 p.m. GMT) when the dancer tried to leave the man's table only for him to seize her arm and attack her when she attempted to break free. He then stabbed himself.
The girl died at the scene, but the man was taken to hospital, where he remains unconscious.
The police are waiting for him to regain consciousness before continuing their investigation.
