TIRASPOL, December 7 (RIA Novosti) - One schoolboy was wounded when a grenade brought into school by a classmate went off in Transdnestr, a self-proclaimed republic in Moldova, police in the town of Bendery said Thursday.
Colonel Valery Prudnikov, Bendery police commissioner, told RIA Novosti that the cause of the explosion was careless handling of a combat grenade brought into school by a pupil.
"One of the older pupils brought a combat grenade into a military education class," Prudnikov said. "He then began dismantling it in front of several classmates."
As a result, the grenade exploded, but "fortunately only one schoolboy was injured," he said
