UN, December 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will be able to continue cooperating with Iran in the nuclear industry under a resolution adopted by the UN Security Council Saturday to punish Tehran for its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.
The final, revised version prohibits all programs related to nuclear weapons, but allows Iranian officials to travel abroad, and imposes no ban on Iranian companies' international trade.
"The Russian side has managed to uphold its economic interests and ensure the implementation of its earlier signed contracts [with Iran], including on [the construction of a light-water reactor] in Bushehr and the delivery of defense systems Tor-M1 and S-300," a source in the Russian delegation to the UN told RIA Novosti after the resolution was voted in.
