KIEV, January 30 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's president has asked the Constitutional Court to assess the legality of an ongoing moratorium on the sale of farmland, the presidential press service said Tuesday.
Last December, Ukraine's parliament, the Supreme Rada, extended a moratorium on the sale of agricultural lands until January 1, 2008. Viktor Yushchenko vetoed it, but parliament overrode his veto.
Yushchenko said the moratorium is pushing the land market into the 'shadow' economy.
