TIRASPOL (Moldova), March 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Supreme Court in Transdnestr has sentenced a man to 20 years in jail from March 19 following an explosion in the capital of Moldova's breakaway region of Transdnestr in August 2006.

Judge Valentin Chyorny said Sergei Kapistin was guilty on six charges according to Transdnestran laws. The court said the criminal's motive was hatred for the management of an agricultural company, where he worked as a security guard.

On August 13, 2006, Kapustin boarded a trolleybus to Tiraspol carrying a hand-made explosive intending to place it at the entrance to his director's office. However, after realizing that he had taken the wrong trolleybus, Kapustin attempted to leave the bus. As he went to get off the bomb exploded accidentally killing two people, including a six-year-old Russian girl, and 10 passengers were injured, including Kapustin himself.

The police discovered 5.45 mm cartridges, magazine cases for a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a cartridge carrier during a search of Kapustin's flat.

The court also fined Kapustin $4000 costs to pay for hospital treatment required by his victims, for an expertise and lawyer's services, and damage to the trolleybus.

"The court's decision is final, not subject to any appeal and comes into effect from the proclamation date," Chyorny said.
